Nantes Early Childhood Services: A Focus on Quality and Family Support
The City of Nantes is committed to providing high-quality early childhood care and education, supporting families through a network of municipal multi-reception centers. These centers, located across 11 neighborhoods, operate under a Quality Charter developed in collaboration with parents and early childhood professionals.
Supporting Toddlers and Families
Nantes currently supports the development of various methods of welcoming toddlers in 22 municipal multi-reception centers. The city’s approach emphasizes co-construction with parents and professionals in the early childhood sector to ensure services meet the evolving needs of families.
Role of the Delegated Manager
Each multi-reception center is led by a delegated manager, a key member of the management team. Reporting to the establishment manager, the delegated manager is responsible for both the operational and educational aspects of the crèche (daycare center). Their duties include optimizing service offerings and co-piloting the establishment’s project.
Key Responsibilities of the Delegated Manager:
- Supporting early childhood educators, unit managers, and Educational Support for Inclusive Reception of Children (EJERU) in implementing the educational project.
- Managing human resources, fostering teamwork, and integrating temporary staff and interns.
- Organizing family reception, adapting to individual needs while adhering to establishment regulations.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of children, including medical and social monitoring.
- Managing unit activity, including administrative and budgetary aspects, and contract reception with families.
- Reporting on unit activity to the establishment manager using monitoring tools.
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the establishment, including opening and closing procedures.
Focus on Individualized Care
The City of Nantes prioritizes individualized reception of each child within a collective setting. This includes ensuring the safety of children and providing comprehensive medical and social monitoring, adhering to established medical protocols.
Quality Charter and Continuous Improvement
The Quality Charter guides the operation of these centers, ensuring a consistent standard of care. The delegated manager plays a crucial role in evaluating employees and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
