Nasdaq and Boerse Stuttgart’s Seturion Partner to Modernize European Post-Trade Infrastructure

Stockholm/Stuttgart, March 9th, 2026 – Nasdaq (Nasdaq:NDAQ) and Seturion, the pan-European settlement platform for tokenized assets developed by Boerse Stuttgart Group, have announced a strategic partnership to modernize Europe’s post-trade infrastructure.

Addressing Fragmentation in European Capital Markets

The collaboration aims to tackle the fragmented nature of European capital markets, which currently involves numerous post-trade infrastructure providers and varying legal frameworks across the European Union. This fragmentation leads to increased costs, longer settlement cycles, and operational complexities.

Seturion: A Unified Settlement Platform

Seturion, launched by Boerse Stuttgart Group in September 2025, is designed as a unified settlement platform for tokenized assets. It is open to all market participants, including banks, brokers, trading venues – both traditional and digital – and tokenization platforms across Europe. The platform supports all asset classes, public and private Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs), cash settlement against central bank money, and on-chain cash options.

Nasdaq’s Role and Initial Focus

Through this partnership, Nasdaq’s European trading venues will connect to Seturion to facilitate the trading of tokenized securities, which will then be settled through the platform. The initial focus will be on structured products, with plans to expand the network to include more issuers, brokers, and other financial institutions over time. Nasdaq operates several stock exchanges in the Nordics that support structured product trading, particularly Nasdaq Stockholm.

Competition and Market Impact

The Boerse Stuttgart Group and Nasdaq compete in the Nordic region, with the Boerse Stuttgart Group owning Nordic Growth Market, which also supports structured products. Germany and Switzerland have active exchange-listed markets for certificates and warrants, processing substantial retail volumes.

Benefits of Tokenized Settlement

The collaboration aims to deliver faster, more cost-efficient settlement of tokenized assets although maintaining trusted market structures and existing client workflows. Seturion’s platform enables significant cost savings by leveraging blockchain technology and removes cross-border barriers.

Regulatory Alignment

Seturion is designed to be fully aligned with European regulations, including MiFID II and the DLT Pilot Regime.

Looking Ahead

The partnership between Nasdaq and Seturion represents a significant step towards transforming Europe’s post-trade landscape and accelerating the ecosystem for trading and settling tokenized securities across the continent.
