Navy Women’s Lacrosse Upsets No. 7 Florida, Continues Strong Start to Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy Midshipmen women’s lacrosse team secured a significant upset victory over No. 7 Florida, 14-11, on Saturday, February 27, 2026, building on an already impressive start to the season. The win marks the second time in program history Navy has defeated multiple top-10 opponents in the same season, a feat last achieved during their 2017 Final Four run Patriot League.

Midshipmen Dominate Against Ranked Opponent

Navy’s victory over Florida, ranked eighth in the NCAA in scoring offense with 16.25 goals per game, was a testament to their all-around performance. This followed a previous win against No. 10 Virginia, 12-10, earlier in the season Patriot League.

Key Performances Lead to Victory

Several Midshipmen players delivered standout performances:

  • Alyssa Chung (Attacker of the Week): Despite being closely guarded, Chung recorded four points with two goals and two assists, adding a ground ball and a caused turnover. Her goals were crucial in establishing Navy’s early lead and contributing to a key scoring run Patriot League.
  • Ava Yovino (Midfielder of the Week): Yovino led the team with six points, scoring three goals and providing three assists. She also dominated the draw, securing seven draw controls and caused three turnovers Patriot League.
