Netflix is expanding its U.S. and global streaming libraries with a slate of new titles led by the sports comedy Champions. The streaming platform is releasing the film alongside a diverse lineup of new movies, stand-up specials, documentaries, and animated programs as the calendar turns from October to November.
In Champions, Woody Harrelson stars as a coach, with the team working toward a place in the Special Olympics. The narrative emphasizes the lives of the athletes outside the court. The movie begins streaming in the U.S. on Oct. 28.
Global Releases and Crime Thrillers Arrive in Late October
Alongside the sports comedy, Netflix is debuting international drama and holiday family programming. The Spanish heist thriller Collision Course arrives globally on Oct. 30. Set in Madrid during the 2013 economic crisis, the film follows a group of bank robbers whose getaway is derailed by a vehicle crash. Director Daniel Sánchez Arévalo helms his first thriller from a script co-written with Ramón Campos and produced by Bambú Producciones.
For family audiences, Mattel is marking the 25th anniversary of the 2001 animated film with a new holiday special, Barbie in the Nutcracker. The 45-minute project features updated animation and casts Barbie “Malibu” Roberts as Clara and Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts as the Sugarplum Princess on a rescue mission against the Rat King. The special begins streaming globally on Nov. 1.
Stand-Up Specials and Comedic Documentaries Expand the Schedule
Stand-up comedy joins the late-October release window with Zainab Johnson’s second special, Toxically Optimistic, which debuts globally on Oct. 27. The project addresses topics including guns, a Tesla crisis, and personal optimism derived from her Edinburgh Fringe performances. The special marks the first stand-up release produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground.

The streaming schedule also features a mockumentary workplace comedy titled Minimum Wage, which is inspired by series like The Office and Parks and Recreation. Based on a web series about underdog teens running a pizzeria called The Slice Club, it premieres on Oct. 26. Documentary programming features a three-part series titled The One About Matthew Perry, directed by Mary Robertson, and SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of, which explores the history of the Canadian sketch comedy show.
