The Green Knight, directed by David Lowery, initially received a mixed reception upon its 2021 release, despite earning a “Certified Fresh” rating of 89% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s slow pacing contributed to a divide in audience opinion, reflected in its 50% audience score on the review aggregator. Netflix’s global reach offers the film a potential opportunity to connect with a wider audience.

A24 Addresses Casting Controversy in ‘Deep Cuts’
A24 recently navigated a casting controversy surrounding its upcoming film, Deep Cuts, starring Cailee Spaeny and Drew Starkey. Initial casting of Odessa A’zion as Zoe Gutierrez, a character described as half Mexican and half Jewish, sparked criticism and accusations of whitewashing. More than 100 Latino actors and creatives, including Eva Longoria and John Leguizamo, voiced their concerns in an open letter. A’zion has since been replaced by Ariela Barer.
