German psychological thriller The Trap, based on Melanie Raabe’s 2015 bestselling novel, premieres all six episodes on Netflix on Oct. 13. The series stars Friederike Becht as Lisa Konrad, a successful author who becomes a recluse after witnessing the murder of her sister, Anna. Ten years later, Konrad spots a man on television whom she believes is her sister’s killer, prompting her to devise an elaborate plan using herself as bait rather than contacting law enforcement.
Production and Creative Team Behind The Trap
Created by Isabel Kleefeld, known for her work on Dear Child, the Netflix adaptation brings Raabe’s debut thriller to the screen after a prior Hollywood feature option with TriStar Pictures failed to materialize. The six-episode German-language series features an ensemble cast that includes Hans Löw, Matthias Brandt, Josephine Thiesen, and Michael Klammer. The project arrives as Netflix continues its extensive adaptation pipeline of thriller author Harlan Coben, whose works have yielded 13 series across multiple languages including English, Spanish, Polish, and French.

Production is underway on an English-language version of the Polish adaptation The Woods. Additionally, Netflix is developing a series centered on Myron Bolitar, a prominent character from Coben’s 1995 novel Deal Breaker. Colin Woodell has been cast as Myron Bolitar, a former basketball player turned sports agent, alongside KJ Apa as Windsor “Win” Horne Lockwood III, and Diane Guerrero as Esperanza Diaz. The trio investigates murders and conspiracies on behalf of Bolitar’s clients. Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the Myron Bolitar series.
