New Bern Man Charged with Dover Arson

Dover, N.C. – Dempsey Thomas Durham, 34, of New Bern, North Carolina, faces arson adn trespassing charges following a domestic-related structure fire on January 31, 2026. The Craven County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Jonestown Road in Dover regarding the incident.

Investigators with the Criminal Patrol Bureau identified Durham as the individual responsible for the fire. He was apprehended at the scene and subsequently charged with felony first-degree arson, injury to real property, and second-degree trespassing.

Durham is currently being held at the Craven County Confinement Facility under a $30,000 bond. Further details regarding the investigation and the circumstances leading to the fire have not yet been released.
