Kinderboerderij Het Akkertje Welcomes New Calf, Sientje

Kinderboerderij Het Akkertje in Rijswijk has welcomed a new addition to its animal family: a nine-month-old calf named Sientje, born in June 2025. The arrival follows the recent welcoming of a donkey named Miep three weeks prior.

Arrival and Introduction

Sientje arrived at Het Akkertje last Saturday and is currently residing in the stable to acclimate to her new surroundings and undergo a medical examination. On Monday, Sientje was cautiously introduced to Doortje, a six-year-old cow, through a fence, allowing the two animals to safely become acquainted before being allowed to graze together in the pasture.

Training and Acclimation

The coming weeks will focus on training and familiarizing the young calf with her caretakers. Staff are taking a deliberate approach to allow Sientje to adjust at her own pace.

Future Plans

After completing the medical check-up and acclimation period, Sientje will be able to join Doortje and the resident deer in the pasture. Visitors to Het Akkertje will then be able to enjoy watching the two cows and their developing friendship.
