UC San Diego Students Honored for Outstanding Research
During the Summer Research Symposium at the University of California San Diego, a panel of faculty members from the School of Medicine recognized exceptional student research. The projects were evaluated based on scientific merit, clarity, and visual impact. Several students received awards for their perform, with distinctions given by the Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion and the UC San Diego Library.
School of Medicine Awards
Lina Vo received first place, Atul Saha took second place, and Vaibhavi Patankar was awarded third place in the School of Medicine’s research competition. Lina Vo is a researcher at the University of California San Diego.
Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion Awards
The Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion presented two awards recognizing excellence in research focused on empathy and compassion, as well as superior communication of project narratives. Vanessa Ho earned first place, and Samira Torna received second place. Both Ho and Torna are participants in the Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion Sanford Scholar Award Program.
UC San Diego Library Awards
The UC San Diego Library acknowledged outstanding work in the utilize of cited literature. Shane DeGrace was awarded first place, and Marea Gordon received second place from the School of Medicine.
Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Awards
Jahfreen Alam secured first place, and Julia Spong was awarded second place from the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
