Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Powers Next-Gen Flagship

Samsung is poised to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25th in San Francisco. The device is expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, promising significant performance and efficiency gains. Alongside the S26 Ultra, Samsung will also introduce the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5: A Performance Leap

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 “for Galaxy” chipset, a customized version of Qualcomm’s flagship processor. This variant boasts faster Prime Cores, capable of boosting up to 4.74 GHz – a 3% increase over other Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 versions. This enhanced processing power translates to measurable improvements in benchmark scores.

Recent Geekbench scores demonstrate the S26 Ultra’s superior performance. It achieves approximately 7% higher multi-core scores compared to the OnePlus 15. Single-core and GPU performance are also competitive, rivaling devices like the Honor Magic8 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and RedMagic 11 Pro. Qualcomm’s tests indicate the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is 20% faster and 35% more power-efficient than its predecessor.

What Else to Expect

While the S26 Ultra is expected to deliver substantial performance upgrades, camera improvements are anticipated to be incremental. However, Samsung’s new Privacy Display is highlighted as a key upgrade over the previous generation.
