According to court records and police files, Komoroski’s blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.261%—more than three times the legal limit—when her Toyota Camry struck a golf cart carrying newlywed Samantha Miller and groom Aric Hutchinson.

The Fatal Folly Beach Crash and Victim Details

The collision occurred hours after Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson celebrated their wedding in Folly Beach, South Carolina. According to witness statements and court records, the couple departed their wedding reception in a golf cart along with two other passengers. Komoroski’s Toyota Camry was traveling at approximately 65 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone when it rear-ended the golf cart. Aric Hutchinson sustained severe injuries, including a traumatic brain injury and multiple broken bones, requiring extensive hospitalization and multiple surgeries.

Police Station and Bodycam Footage Disclosures

Recently surfaced police department footage captures Komoroski in a holding room with her hands cuffed behind her back, repeatedly asking officers if she can call her father. According to the video recordings, when officers inform her she cannot make a phone call immediately, she questions the legality of her detainment, stating, “What did I do? Nobody has proof of anything I did, so give me my right to talk to my father.” She later notices a wall-mounted camera, complains about being filmed, and remarks, “Oh, I’m acting like a little baby,” before adding that she wants the situation to end so she can go home. Additional bodycam footage from the crash scene shows Komoroski appearing agitated, instructing officers to check on another woman at the scene, while initial police reports noted she initially denied wrongdoing and refused a roadside breathalyzer test.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing Outcomes

In December 2024, Jamie Lee Komoroski pleaded guilty to one count of felony driving under the influence resulting in death, two counts of felony DUI resulting in serious bodily injury, and reckless homicide, according to Charleston County court records. During her sentencing hearing, Komoroski addressed the court and the victim’s family, offering an apology and stating she took full responsibility for the crash. Circuit Court Judge Michael Nettles subsequently sentenced her to 25 years in prison. Aric Hutchinson delivered a victim impact statement during the hearing, describing how his memories shifted instantly from celebrating his wedding and hearing his wife say she did not want the night to end, to waking up in a hospital bed after the fatal collision.
