New JBL Tour One M3 Receives Free Sound Curve Upgrade via Firmware Update JBL has refined the sound profile of its Tour One M3 flagship over-ear headphones, delivering improved audio performance to existing owners through a complimentary firmware update. The update, released on April 23, 2026, enhances vocal clarity and overall sound balance by refining the tuning curve based on evolving listener expectations. The revised sound curve builds upon the Harman Target Curve as its foundation but introduces specific adjustments to address modern listening habits. According to Harman engineers, today’s listeners are more sensitive to audio imbalances, experience fatigue more quickly and demand greater precision from premium audio products. The update responds by boosting presence in the upper midrange frequencies while reducing buildup in the low-mid range, resulting in a more natural and immersive sound across music genres. This refinement is part of JBL’s broader effort to compete with top-tier offerings from Sony, Bose, and other leaders in the high-performance headphone market. Rather than relying on hardware changes, JBL is applying advanced audio science to optimize the listening experience through software. Existing Tour One M3 users can access the update immediately via the JBL Headphones app. The firmware upgrade requires no additional cost and can be installed wirelessly in minutes. In addition to the sound tuning improvement, JBL announced a new green colorway with copper accents for both the Tour One M3 headphones and Tour Pro 3 earbuds. This limited-edition finish will launch in mid-May 2026 for customers in the UK and Europe. North American markets will not receive this color variant at this time. The update coincides with JBL’s 80th anniversary Playback Tour, during which the company also unveiled a redesigned app interface and an upgraded touchscreen display on the charging case of the Tour Pro 3 earbuds. JBL’s Smart Tx Audio Transmitter, first integrated into the Tour One M3, remains a key differentiator. This proprietary technology enables low-latency, stable wireless audio transmission from USB-C or analog sources—such as in-flight entertainment systems, PCs, tablets, or televisions—directly to the headphones. It also allows users to broadcast audio to multiple Auracast™-enabled devices while retaining full control over playback, calls, and EQ settings through the transmitter. By combining the Smart Tx transmitter with True Adaptive Noise Cancelling 2.0, lossless audio support, and Hi-Res Bluetooth connectivity, the Tour One M3 continues to position itself as a versatile, high-performance option for travelers, audiophiles, and everyday listeners seeking premium sound without compromise.
