Longueuil, QC – Greater Montreal is set to expand its air travel capacity with the opening of a new terminal at Montreal Metropolitan Airport (MET) on June 15, 2026. The new facility, developed by YHU Infrastructure Partners, aims to provide passengers with a more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly airport experience, while also offering competitive operating conditions for airlines.1
A New Hub for Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation
Upon opening, the terminal will primarily host operations for Porter Airlines and Pascan Aviation, connecting Canadian destinations from coast to coast.1 The airport is designed to accommodate additional carriers in the future, contributing to increased air travel options within the region.

Designed, built, and operated by YHU Infrastructure Partners, the 21,000 square meter terminal prioritizes efficiency, comfort, and simplicity.1 It features nine boarding bridges and a spacious waiting lounge with 900 seats. Its streamlined operating model, managed under Terminal YHU, aims to ensure rapid response and coordination.1
A Focus on Sustainable Air Travel
The new terminal is positioned to become the airport of choice for direct flights operated by quieter, more fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft.1
Accessibility and Location
Located 15 km from downtown Montreal, MET is easily accessible via an extensive road network and the METbus express shuttle, which connects to the Longueuil-Université-de-Sherbrooke metro station.1 The airport’s location is intended to serve over three million residents in Montreal, Montérégie, and Estrie.
Partnership and Development
YHU Infrastructure Partners, a partnership between Porter Aviation Holdings Inc. And Macquarie Asset Management, is responsible for the construction, operations, and passenger experience at the new terminal.4 The development of MET has been the result of regional consultations involving government officials, aerospace representatives, tourism stakeholders, and community members.1 A 2024 Léger survey indicated strong public support for the project, with 77% of citizens expressing approval.1
Quebec-Based Retail Options
The terminal’s retail offerings will feature entirely Quebec-based businesses, including a Bâton Rouge restaurant, a Café Dépôt, and a convenience and travel goods store.1
