FA Cup Fifth Round Set: Arsenal to Face Mansfield, Manchester City to Host Newcastle
The FA Cup fifth-round draw has paired Arsenal with League One side Mansfield Town, whereas Manchester City will host Newcastle United in a rematch of a recent League Cup semi-final. The ties will be played over the weekend of March 7–8, 2026.
Mansfield Town’s Historic Run
League One club Mansfield Town earned a glamour tie against 14-time FA Cup winners Arsenal after a stunning 2-1 victory over Premier League side Burnley in the fourth round. This is Mansfield’s first appearance in the fifth round since 1975. The Stags mounted a remarkable second-half comeback at Turf Moor to secure their place in the last 16.
Premier League Clashes
Manchester City will face Newcastle United in a repeat of their League Cup semi-final encounter. Pep Guardiola’s side will aim to replicate their League Cup success against Newcastle. Wolverhampton Wanderers will host Liverpool in another all-Premier League tie, while Fulham will entertain Southampton.
Championship Challenges
Championship promotion chasers Wrexham will welcome eight-time FA Cup winners Chelsea. Leeds United will host fellow second-tier side Norwich City. Sunderland face a second successive away trip, taking on either Port Vale or Bristol City, whose fourth-round tie was postponed until March 3 due to a waterlogged pitch.
