Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach Sidelined as Montreal Canadiens Host Winnipeg Jets

Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach are doing extra this morning. We’ll have to wait before the captain’s return, Renaud Lavoie reported on montrealhockeyfanatics.com.

The Montreal Canadiens will proceed without captain Nick Suzuki and forward Kirby Dach when they host the Winnipeg Jets, as both skaters remained on the ice following Tuesday’s morning skate for extra work. Suzuki has missed five games due to an upper-body injury sustained on October 20, when he blocked a shot with his hand during a 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks, tsn.ca reported.

The injury halted Suzuki’s ironman streak of 546 consecutive regular-season games played since he entered the NHL during the 2019-20 season. His return is not expected before November 18, according to montrealhockeyfanatics.com. Before the injury, Suzuki recorded 12 points, including five goals, in nine games.

Dach sits out Tuesday’s matchup while dealing with an illness that kept him away from Monday’s practice. He has three assists through 13 games this season. With both centers unavailable, Martin St-Louis must adjust his lineup against a struggling Winnipeg squad.

Winnipeg Enters Montreal Riding Nine Consecutive Losses

The Jets arrive in Montreal mired in a severe slump, dropping nine straight games and sitting 28th in the NHL standings with a 4-8-3 record. Winnipeg’s most recent outing ended in a 7-0 defeat against Carolina on Sunday. The team has scored 34 goals while allowing 54, resulting in a -20 goal differential.

In contrast, the Canadiens enter the contest with strong momentum. Montreal holds a 9-3-2 record entering play Tuesday and an 8-1-1 mark over its last 10 games, riding a five-game winning streak that includes a 5-4 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Jacob Fowler Takes the Net as Ivan Demidov Remains in Walking Boot

Jacob Fowler will start in goal for Montreal against Winnipeg. The 21-year-old American goaltender boasts a 7-1 record, a 1.84 goals-against average, a .932 save percentage, and two shutouts across eight appearances this season.

Meanwhile, forward Ivan Demidov remains sidelined and has not returned to skating. The 20-year-old winger continues to wear a walking boot on his right foot, marking a full month since his last appearance on October 3. Demidov has played only two games this season.
