IFC Films Sets November 20 Release for Nicolas Cage Crime Thriller Best Pancakes in the County
Nicolas Cage stars as a fast-talking con man named The S.O.B. in the upcoming crime thriller Best Pancakes in the County, which centers on a small-town diner standoff and is slated for release in select theaters and via digital platforms on Nov. 20 by IFC Films, The Hollywood Reporter reported. Written and directed by Ken Sanzel, the film features Cage as a grifter named The S.O.B. whose meeting at an unimpressive small-town diner is disrupted by rogue federal agents hunting for a long-lost hard drive.
“Nine years ago, there was a hard drive with dirt on the CIA,” Cage says in the trailer released for the film. “I hope the hard drive can be monetized.”
Cast Lineup and Production Details
The ensemble cast features Justin Long, Shelley Hennig, Lauren German, Ravi Patel, Brandon Mychal Smith, Kelly Greyson, Jaylen Moore, and Michael Sirow. Eduardo Osipov, Raja Collins, Eric Brenner, Niko Fomenko, Gary Preisler, and R. Wesley Sierk III produced the feature.
Executive producers for the project include John D. Straley, Audra Gricius, Jina Panebianco, Lance Kawas, Ahmed S. Boomrod, Eugene Pruss, and Nadine de Barros. The movie arrives on the heels of Cage’s recent slate of projects, which includes The Carpenter’s Son, Gunslingers, Longlegs, and the lead role in the upcoming television series Spider-Noir.
Upcoming Projects for the Lead Cast
Cage will also star as NFL legend John Madden alongside Christian Bale in Amazon MGM Studios’ biopic Madden, directed by David O. Russell. Co-star Justin Long’s upcoming slate features the horror film Lice and Amazon MGM’s romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other, starring alongside Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy.
