Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, earned more on its first Saturday than on its opening day, recovering from a Friday slump to push its three-day India net past ₹182 crore and set up a shot at crossing ₹200 crore by Sunday, NDTV reported.
The film, released in theatres on November 5, collected ₹69.80 crore net in India on day 3, taking its domestic total to ₹182.70 crore net and ₹218.25 crore gross, according to trade website Sacnilk. Overseas, it added ₹60.00 crore on Saturday, lifting the international gross to ₹157.25 crore and the worldwide total to ₹375.50 crore.
Saturday’s Turnaround After a 25.9% Friday Drop
The rebound came after a noticeable decline on day 2. The film opened on Thursday, November 5, with ₹64.85 crore net across five languages and 25,200 shows, the fourth-highest opening in Bollywood history, Hindustan Times reported. Collections fell to ₹48.05 crore on Friday — a 25.9% drop, Mint calculated — before rising roughly 29% on Saturday, with Hindustan Times pegging the day-3 growth at 45.3% over Friday’s figure.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh attributed the Friday decline to the pre-Diwali period, writing on Instagram that evening shows registered a better trend than expected and that “all eyes are now on Saturday [#ChotiDiwali] and Sunday,” which were expected to deliver much better numbers. He added that Sunday evening business was likely to slow due to the Lakshmi Puja shubh mahurat, with a sharp turnaround expected from Monday to Wednesday as Diwali festivities begin.
Hindi Version Carries Three-Quarters of Domestic Earnings
The Hindi version drove the bulk of day-3 business, adding ₹53 crore from 19,927 shows, NDTV reported. It was followed by ₹6.30 crore from 907 shows in Kannada, ₹6.00 crore from 1,586 shows in Telugu and ₹2.00 crore from 593 shows in Malayalam. Mint’s early estimates as of 9 pm on November 7 put the day-3 net lower at ₹62.04 crore, with a running India net of ₹174.94 crore and gross of ₹208.01 crore, cautioning that final figures were yet to be reported after night shows.
Across three days, Mint calculated, the Hindi version alone earned ₹131.28 crore, accounting for approximately 75.1% of the film’s domestic earnings so far.
Opening Moments That Set the Stage
Advance bookings for the film opened on Dussehra, 15 days before release, and had sold tickets worth ₹200 crore worldwide by opening day, Hindustan Times reported. On October 27, the makers held a special screening in Los Angeles. The film is mounted on a collective budget of ₹4,000 crore across its two parts and was widely promoted globally.
Within three days, Ramayana had already surpassed the opening-day collections of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (₹57 crore), Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (₹63 crore), Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 (₹62 crore) and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar (₹28 crore), Mint reported. It has also outearned the lifetime collections of several 2026 releases, trailing only Bhooth Bangla (₹182.36 crore) among them.
How It Compares With Adipurush
Despite severe backlash over its VFX and dialogues, Prabhas’s Adipurush (2023) opened with ₹86.75 crore in India, a figure Ramayana did not match on day 1. But on day 3, Ramayana‘s ₹69.80 crore edged past Adipurush‘s ₹69.10 crore. Hindustan Times noted the comparison carries a caveat: Adipurush‘s first three days were a Friday–Sunday stretch, while Ramayana‘s included a working Thursday and Friday before Saturday.
What Comes Next for the Diwali Weekend
The film is eyeing the ₹200 crore India mark, which Hindustan Times said it was expected to cross by Sunday, though Taran Adarsh’s analysis flags a likely Sunday-evening slowdown ahead of the Lakshmi Puja muhurat and stronger business from Monday through Wednesday as Diwali festivities begin. The two-part epic, produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Part two is set for Diwali 2028.
