No live stream for outdoor hoops exhibition 'plain stupid', says Ken Broo

Fans seeking to watch the CareSource Invitational college basketball exhibition doubleheader on Wednesday at Mason’s Lindner Family Tennis Center face a major hurdle, as event organizers have scheduled no live video stream for the outdoor games between Cincinnati and Ohio State, or Xavier and Dayton.

CareSource Invitational Lacks Live Video Stream

College basketball fans and media members expressed frustration over the complete absence of a live video broadcast for the upcoming outdoor games in Mason, Ohio. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein and local sports personality Ken Broo criticized the decision to skip television and internet coverage for the event, according to reporting by [cincinnati.com]. The exhibition doubleheader features Cincinnati playing Ohio State at 3 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a matchup between long-time rivals Xavier and Dayton at 5:30 p.m. The games serve to raise awareness and funds for mental health and suicide prevention. Rothstein posted on social media about the situation, calling the lack of a broadcast the “first miscarriage of justice during the 2026-27 season!” Broo echoed the sentiment on Twitter, writing: “Why wouldn’t a promoter/organizer of this event have some sort of television coverage? It’s more than inconceivable. It’s just plain stupid.”

Lindner Family Tennis Center Hosts First Basketball Event

Wednesday’s games mark the first time the Lindner Family Tennis Center has hosted a basketball event. The outdoor facility in Mason previously hosted the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament in August, where tennis player Coco Gauff won the championship in straight sets against Jessica Pegula. The games will move to the UD Arena in Dayton if inclement weather hits the area on Wednesday.
