OAB Launches Nationwide Flu Vaccination Campaign for Lawyers

The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) has initiated its largest-ever influenza vaccination campaign, making 105,000 doses of the influenza vaccine available to lawyers across the country. The rollout begins on Monday, March 16th, with vaccine distribution already underway to local sections.

Partnership for Lawyer Health

This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Federal Council of the OAB, the Lawyers’ Assistance Integration and Development Fund (Fida), and the National Coordination of Lawyers’ Assistance Funds (Concad). The vaccine supply is secured through a contract signed in early March with the Butantan Institute. OAB-ES received 5,000 doses as part of this national effort.

Vaccine Details

The distributed vaccine is a trivalent, single-dose influenza vaccine. It provides protection against two strains of Influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and one strain of Influenza B, offering broad coverage against currently circulating viruses. The CDC details different types of flu vaccines and their effectiveness.

Campaign Logistics

Each OAB section, working with its Assistance Fund, will manage the vaccination process and publish immunization schedules for their respective states. This decentralized approach aims to ensure easy access for all lawyers. The campaign is particularly focused on protecting lawyers who have frequent public contact, such as those working in courts, hearings, and law offices.

Accessing the Vaccine

Lawyers are encouraged to consult their local OAB sections or Assistance Funds for specific vaccination dates and locations within their state.

Previous Vaccination Efforts

In 2016, the OAB, Concad, and Fida collaborated to provide 30,000 doses of the tetravalent H1N1 flu vaccine to lawyers nationwide. This earlier campaign demonstrated a commitment to lawyer health and safety.
