Kenneth “Kenny” E. Forrest II, a staple of the Summit Hill community and a fixture at Redner’s Markets for 27 years, died on November 3, 2026. He was 59.
A Life Rooted in Pennsylvania
Born in Bryn Mawr on August 28, 1967, to the late Robert M. and Jane L. Forrest, Kenny’s path was defined by local ties and steady academic pursuit. After graduating from Panther Valley High School in 1986, he went on to earn a degree in computer science from Bloomsburg University in 1990.
Service to Church and Lodge
While he built a long career at the Nesquehoning-based Redner’s Markets, Mr. Forrest’s presence was most deeply felt in his civic and spiritual commitments. He was an active member of the Carbon Masonic Lodge No. 242 and devoted significant time to the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church in Summit Hill. There, he served as both an elder and Clerk of Session, while also lending his organizational skills to the Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade Committee.
Mr. Forrest Cherished Sports Teams and Family Members
Away from his professional duties, Mr. Forrest was a dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State football, and the Star Trek franchise. He held a particular fondness for Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a place his family noted he cherished. He leaves behind his sister, Wendy Forrest Edgar, and her husband, Ken; his nephew, Samuel Edgar; and his niece, Leah Edgar, all of Venetia, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his German “brother,” Dirk Kruger, of Essen, Germany, and his caregiver and friend, Chris Forrest, of Summit Hill.
