Traditional Crafts and Edo Period Processions Anchor Programming

Traditional Japanese programming anchors the outdoor and stage areas, highlighted by a festival festival dancing ring surrounded by a wooden yagura scaffold for bon odori. An Asakusa and Nakamise Street replica hosts demonstrations of traditional crafts and performance arts, including taiko drumming, koto music, classical Japanese dance, calligraphy, and tea ceremonies. Performances feature stage acts by Ukonya & Sakon alongside English-language rakugo storytelling by Sunshine Katsura. On October 17 and 18, the festival stages a traditional Oiran Dochu procession reproducing Edo-period courtesan pageantry.

Tuna Dismantling Demonstrations Lead Sixty Food Booths

Surrounding food booths offer more than 60 varieties of Japanese street food and regional dishes, including okonomiyaki, takoyaki, yakisoba, yakitori, ramen, katsusando, taiyaki, and shaved ice.
