Following a 4.24 percent pension increase implemented on July 1, 2026, the scheduling depends strictly on whether a beneficiary falls under the advance or arrears payment system.

According to the Deutsche Rentenversicherung, the exact arrival date of the monthly pension depends on the retirement entry date. Beneficiaries who entered retirement on or before March 31, 2004, receive their payments in advance (vorschüssig), meaning the money for the current month is transferred at the end of the preceding month. Anyone who retired on or after April 1, 2004, receives payments in arrears (nachschüssig) at the end of the respective month.
As the Sparkasse explains, standard bank working days exclude Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. When the final calendar day of a month falls on a weekend or holiday, the payout date shifts forward. For October 2026, advance recipients will see their funds arrive no later than Wednesday, September 30, 2026. Because October 31, 2026, falls on a Saturday, arrears recipients will receive their October payment slightly earlier than usual, with funds scheduled to hit accounts on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Procedures for Delayed Pension Payments
The Renten Service of Deutsche Post manages pension disbursements across Germany, as outlined in official DRV documentation. The managing bank must credit the pension funds to the recipient’s account no later than 23:59 on the final bank working day of the month.
If funds fail to arrive on schedule, the DRV instructs retirees to submit a written inquiry to the Renten Service, including their personal postal pension number (Postrentennummer) and specifying the missing month. Postal addresses differ based on residence: beneficiaries living in Germany must write to Deutsche Post AG, Niederlassung Renten Service, 13497 Berlin, while those living abroad send inquiries to Deutsche Post AG, Niederlassung Renten Service, 13496 Berlin.
