Shaun Cook Named Ohio Football General Manager

ATHENS, Ohio – Shaun Cook has been appointed as the general manager of the Ohio football program, as announced by Head Coach John Hauser on Monday, March 16, 2026.1

“The general manager’s role is central to building and sustaining a program as college football continues to evolve. Shaun’s addition represents an important step forward as we position our program to compete and thrive in this new era of college athletics,” Hauser stated. “Shaun brings valuable experience from some outstanding college football programs, strong relationships within the football community, and a deep understanding of the modern college football structure. We are confident his leadership and vision will be a major asset to our staff, our players, and the future of Ohio University football.”1

Cook’s Background

Cook joins Ohio University after serving as the assistant director of player personnel at Texas A&M from December 2023 through the 2025 season.1 At Texas A&M, he contributed to the recruitment of highly-ranked high school and transfer portal classes, focusing on evaluating and prioritizing prospects. His primary responsibility was directing all scouting and recruiting operations for the defense.1

Prior to his role at Texas A&M, Cook was the assistant director of scouting at Duke from January 2022 to December 2023, overseeing all offensive scouting and recruiting operations nationwide.1

Cook as well held the position of assistant director of player personnel at UConn for the 2021 season, following a stint as a scout and content creator for The 33rd Team.1 He previously worked in the NFL in GSIS support and statistics quality assurance from August 2020 to January 2021, ensuring the accuracy of live play-by-play data.1 His experience also includes roles as a football personnel and recruiting assistant at Vanderbilt (2019) and the University of Tennessee (2016-2019).1

Personal Information

A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Cook holds a degree in recreation and sport management from the University of Tennessee.1 He and his wife, Anna, recently welcomed their daughter, Violet.1
