Veradermics Initiates Late-Stage Trial for Oral FPHL Treatment

Veradermics,Inc., a dermatology-focused biopharmaceutical company, has begun enrolling participants in its phase 2/3 clinical trial evaluating VDPHL01. This oral, extended-release minoxidil formulation targets female pattern hair loss (FPHL). This trial represents the frist late-stage U.S. clinical trial of an oral treatment specifically designed for FPHL, signaling a potential breakthrough in a historically underserved area. Dermatology Times reported on the launch.

“Women experience significant emotional and physical distress from hair loss,” says Maryanne Makredes Senna, MD, a board-certified dermatologist at Beth Israel Lahey Health and assistant professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School. She also serves on Veradermics’ scientific advisory board. “I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact on their confidence and self-image. Current treatments-over-the-counter options, off-label uses, and topical solutions-often fall short.” Dr. Senna believes this Phase 2/3 trial is a crucial step forward for the industry and for women, providing the rigorous clinical data needed for effective FPHL treatment. She is optimistic about the potential of VDPHL01, based on promising early data from male trials.

The Phase 2/3 Registration Program

The double-blind, randomized trial (NCT07146022) is part of a larger phase 3 program. This program includes three registration-directed studies examining pattern hair loss in both women and men. Veradermics intends to enroll over 500 women, making it a ample study.
