Ian Puleston-Davies Returns to Coronation Street as Owen Armstrong in January

Actor Ian Puleston-Davies will return to Coronation Street as the no-nonsense builder Owen Armstrong in January. The 67-year-old actor begins filming his comeback scenes next week, reprising his role nearly eleven years after Owen left the cobbles in April 2015 following the collapse of his business and his relationship with Anna Windass.

Owen Armstrong Moves In With Izzy and Jake While Targeting Gary Windass

Upon returning to Weatherfield, Owen moves in with his daughter Izzy and grandson Jake, making it clear that he blames Gary Windass for his family’s recent misfortunes. Owen returns in January following Gary’s recent imprisonment for perverting the course of justice. Fiercely protective over his family, Owen wastes little time before voicing his fury over the chaos Gary caused.

ITV Producer Kate Brooks Teases Street Chaos and Unlikely Alliances

Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks stated that Owen’s return will bring a heavy wave of drama to the soap. “As he joins forces with an unlikely alliance, he wreaks havoc on the Street, and his relationship with Gary is severely put to the test,” Brooks said. Ian Puleston-Davies added in his official casting statement: “I can’t wait to pick up where I left off ten years ago! It’s brilliant to be back and to get stuck into a cracking storyline. Owen’s back and he’s still angry!”

Post-Coronation Street Career in High-Profile British Dramas

Since his departure from the ITV soap in April 2015—when Owen initially headed to Portugal before starting a new life in Scotland—Puleston-Davies has maintained a busy television career. In real life, the actor has starred in numerous high-profile dramas including The Bay, D.I. Ray, The Responder, Silent Witness, Pennyworth, Tin Star, and After The Flood, alongside directing feature films and writing his own projects.
