Oxnard Man Arrested in Juvenile Sex Crimes Investigation – Social Media Dangers Highlighted
A 23-year-old man from Oxnard, California, has been arrested on multiple felony charges related to alleged sex crimes involving a juvenile. The case, investigated by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, underscores the potential dangers of online interactions and the importance of parental awareness regarding children’s social media activity.
Investigation Details
The investigation began in November 2025, after deputies responded to a report of a missing juvenile who subsequently returned home in Carpinteria. Detectives discovered that Ramiro Hernandez, 23, had allegedly been communicating with the victim through Snapchat and Instagram and was aware of her age KSBY. Hernandez reportedly used fake names on his social media profiles.
Following a months-long investigation, Hernandez was arrested at his Oxnard home on February 26, 2026 Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into jail on charges including assault with intent to commit a sex crime, traveling to meet a minor for lewd acts, sexual battery, and furnishing alcohol and marijuana to a minor. Bail was set at $100,000 Noozhawk.
Social Media Accounts Involved
Authorities identified the social media handles used by Hernandez as @goshboyyyy_lol and @justreelingby. These accounts are no longer active Noozhawk. The Sheriff’s Office used multiple search warrants to identify the individual behind these accounts.
Warning to Parents and Guardians
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is urging parents and guardians to actively monitor their children’s online activity and engage in open conversations about online safety. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Raquel Zick emphasized the importance of utilizing privacy settings and parental controls Noozhawk.
“It is critical that both parents and children understand that individuals online are not always who they claim to be,” Zick stated. “Child predators often use false identities, fake profiles, and manipulation tactics to gain trust and exploit young people.”
