Pfarrer Andreas Schütz Dies at 61 After Severe Illness

Pastor Andreas Schütz, who served parishes in Neukirchen and Odershausen, died on October 11, 2026, at the age of 61 following a severe illness, hna.de reported. Dean Christian Wachter announced the death of the clergyman, whose 13-year tenure in Neukirchen and subsequent ministry in the Kirchspiel Odershausen near Bad Wildungen left a lasting impact on local church life.

Life and Ministry Across Regional Parishes

Born on February 23, 1965, in Ziegenhain, Schütz grew up as a pastor’s son in Spieskappel and Bad Wildungen. From 1996 to 2009, he worked as a pastor in the parishes of Neukirchen, Nausis with Wincherode, and Schorbach. He approached the first 13 years of his professional life with passion, creativity, and dedication.

In 2009, Schütz moved to the Kirchspiel Odershausen near Bad Wildungen. Colleagues and community members remembered him for his close proximity to people, friendliness, and reliability. He worked to bridge divides in difficult situations and earned a reputation as a valued pastoral counselor.

Musical Contributions and Community Engagement

Beyond his pastoral duties, Schütz engaged heavily in youth and children’s work. He accompanied parishioners through both celebratory events and periods of illness and grief. His musical talents included singing as a tenor in the local church choir.

Schütz also contributed technical competence and organizational skill to church letters, festivals, and group discussions. Fellow pastor Nora Dinges described their time working together as enriching and blessed, noting their ability to share successes and carry burdens mutually.

Family Mourns and Funeral Arrangements Approach

Wachter stated that thoughts and prayers remain with his wife, Simone Schütz, his children, Ole and Marlene, and his wider family. The Christian faith in which Schütz lived provides solace to the community as parishioners remember his service.
