The total value of the contracts exceeds two billion euros, of which the currently approved amount, including possibly necessary additions, is one billion euros.
These contracts provide for the purchase of up to 876 Patria 6×6 armored vehicles in four different configurations, including armored personnel carriers equipped with the Patria NEMO turret mortar system and the Kongsberg RS4 remote weapon system.
Deliveries will begin in 2026, after which Patria will provide technology transfer processes to German industrial partners FFG, JWT and KNDS, with whom Patria signed an industrial cooperation agreement in early 2024. The first fully locally produced armored vehicles will be delivered in 2027, establishing and developing full local production capacity to meet the potential future needs of the Bundeswehr.
Germany joined the CAVS program in 2023 and has now reached the delivery phase. The solutions adapted to the needs of Germany offer new elements that can also be used by other CAVS program participants.
The CAVS program, led by the Finnish Defense Forces, currently has seven member states – Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain and Norway – and the vehicles are also in use in Ukraine.
In the CAVS program, the development of the 6×6 armored vehicle system is led by “Patria”, which has more than 40 years of experience in the development and provision of modern troop protection transport and system integration solutions. The majority of vehicle supplies are made using Member States’ local industrial capabilities, and each new Member State strengthens the security of supply chains throughout the program’s cooperation system.
Patria has received orders for nearly 2,000 Patria 6×6 vehicles and has delivered more than 250 vehicles. European countries with similar equipment requirements may participate in the program by mutual agreement.
