Patrick Ricard Joins Giants, Continuing Ravens’ Free Agency Shift
The New York Giants have bolstered their offense with the addition of veteran fullback Patrick Ricard, who has agreed to a two-year deal with the team. This move continues a notable trend of former Baltimore Ravens players joining head coach John Harbaugh in New York.
Ricard’s Impressive Career with the Ravens
Ricard spent nine seasons with the Baltimore Ravens after joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2017. During his time in Baltimore, he developed into a six-time Pro Bowler and a key component of the Ravens’ consistently strong rushing attack. He has also earned All-Pro honors in recent seasons, including first-team All-Pro in 2025 .
A Versatile Player
Throughout his career, Ricard has demonstrated versatility, initially splitting time between fullback and defensive tackle. His defensive contributions include 19 tackles (14 solo), four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup. He transitioned to a full-time fullback role in 2020 .
Impact on the Ravens’ Rushing Game
Ricard played a pivotal role in the Ravens’ success on the ground. Since 2020, Baltimore led the league in rushing yards with 16,782, averaging 5.2 yards per rushing attempt. The Ravens also ranked first in average rushing yards before contact (2.17) and third in average rushing yards after contact (3.07) during that span .
Financial Details of the Deal
The two-year contract with the Giants is reportedly worth up to $8.5 million, with a base value of $7.63 million, making Ricard the highest-paid fullback in the NFL . This surpasses Kyle Juszczyk of the San Francisco 49ers, who previously held the top spot at $7.5 million.
Ravens’ Free Agency Losses
Ricard is the fourth Ravens free agent to join Harbaugh in New York, following safety Ar’Darius Washington, tight conclude Isaiah Likely, and punter Jordan Stout . He is the eighth Baltimore free agent to depart overall.
Ricard’s Stats and Experience
In 132 career games (66 starts), Ricard has recorded 49 receptions for 323 yards and seven touchdowns. He has also appeared in eight postseason games, adding four receptions for 37 yards. Prior to his NFL career, Ricard played 44 games at Maine as a defensive tackle, accumulating 208 tackles, 47.5 tackles for loss, and 18 sacks .
Ricard missed the first six games of the 2025 season due to a calf injury .
