During the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct 2026, Taito announced the upcoming release of Lufia I & II: The Sinistrals Saga for 2027, according to broadcast details. The collection bundles two classic Japanese role-playing games from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System era for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
Classic JRPG Collection Bound for Modern Platforms
The compilation includes Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, released in 1993, and its 1995 prequel, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. Clear River Games serves as the publisher behind the project, matching their previous handling of Terranigma. According to the announcement, players should expect a straightforward reedited release rather than a comprehensive overhaul.
Lufia I & II: The Sinistrals Saga will feature Spanish subtitles alongside quality-of-life additions. While official feature lists remain sparse, the collection is expected to mirror the functionality seen in the Terranigma release, which brought save-anywhere capabilities, a CRT filter, and adjustable aspect ratios to modern hardware.
Thief Remaster Brings 4K Resolution and Modern Controls
Nightdive Studios showcased the first gameplay trailer for Thief: The Dark Project Remastered during the event. Built using the KEX Engine, the remaster bundles the base game with the extra missions, content, and updates originating from the 1999 Thief Gold release, as detailed by the developers.

The updated version supports resolutions up to 4K at 120 frames per second. Nightdive Studios added modern controller support, an interactive weapon and item selection wheel, enhanced textures, refined models, updated animations, and a mission selector to replay completed stages. The title is currently in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms including Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, though no release date has been set.
Survival Climbing and Expanded Indie Showcases
The broadcast also highlighted updates for existing titles, including Cairn. Developer The Game Bakers announced that On the Trail: Deep Water will launch on September 29 as the first in a series of free content drops for the survival climbing game. Players return to professional alpinist Aava to navigate new routes, manage resources, and tackle solo water-climbing zones.
