The episode aired Friday at 20:45 on channel 360, with TV personality and event organizer Gundega Skudriņa joining judges Jānis Šipkēvics and Mārtiņš Egliens on the panel, 1188.lv reported.
Seven Contestants Transformed Into Music Icons
The seven contestants—actress Lelde Dreimane, singers Ieva Sutugova and Andris Ērglis, musicians Ralfs Eilands and Elīna Fūrmane, hip-hop artist Krisy and actor Maksims Busels—continued to amaze with their transformations. Lelde Dreimane opened the show as Marilyn Monroe, performing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”; she said she was very happy with the draw, as which woman would not want to become the legendary Monroe.
Krisy became Canadian singer Alanis Morissette with “Hand In My Pocket,” able to concentrate more on the song’s performance and stage energy rather than choreography, while Elīna Fūrmane, also known as DJ Ella, channeled Eurovision runner-up Verka Serduchka with “Dancing Lasha Tumbai,” entertaining both the audience and the jury.
Ralfs Eilands became 50 years older as he transformed into Mick Jagger, imitating the singer almost identically with attention to every detail and manner of movement.
Ralfs Eilands Edges Out Ieva Sutugova for the Win
The race for first place came down to Ralfs Eilands and Ieva Sutugova, but Eilands secured the top spot with backing from his fellow contestants, 1188.lv reported. Sutugova finished second and Andris Ērglis third.
Mārtiņš Egliens praised Sutugova’s portrayal of Sīmanis, telling Maksims Busels, “Madness. That’s what I told Maksims a couple of episodes ago. I look up and I can’t believe that’s the person underneath!” 1188.lv reported.
Fourth Episode Saw Ieva Sutugova Win as Britney Spears
In the previous installment, Ieva Sutugova had taken first place as Britney Spears, with Krisy finishing second and Maksims Busels third, Delfi and Lasi.lv reported. It was the fourth week in a row of the musical show, with Sutugova winning first place and receiving the 500-euro XCredit charity prize. That episode featured Busels as Rammstein’s Till Lindemann and Ērglis as Zigfrids Muktupāvels, with singer Samanta Tīna serving as a guest judge instead of Skudriņa, Delfi reported. Busels opened the show as Lindemann with “Du Hast,” wearing a muscular silicone costume and mastering the voice timbre and characteristic movements; Tīna, who has herself participated in the show, said such a character suited the actor very well. Lelde Dreimane transformed into Lana Del Rey for “Video Games.”
Ērglis performed the Zodiak song “Mirušais gadsimts” as Muktupāvels, worrying that Latvian performers are best known to viewers and judges and that he knows many of the artists well. The special 1980s singing manner, Muktupāvels’ long hair, fiery hip movements and yodeling technique added further challenges. Krisy became Colombian singer Shakira with “Whenever, Wherever,” learning belly-dancing steps to combine with Shakira’s distinctive voice. Contestants awarded each other widely differing point scores, so it remained unclear who would win until the results were announced, Delfi reported.
