Investigation Launched After Teen Beating in Pervouralsk, Russia
The Sverdlovsk region prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation following the circulation of a video on social media depicting the assault of a teenager by a group of peers. The incident reportedly occurred in Pervouralsk, a city located 39 kilometers (24 miles) west of Yekaterinburg.
Details of the Incident
Footage of the beating, which has been widely shared online, shows several minors repeatedly striking a boy in the head and body. The victim attempts to defend himself during the assault.
Official Response
The Sverdlovsk region prosecutor’s office stated that the investigation will assess the effectiveness of preventative measures implemented by authorities working with minors and addressing illegal activities. The office will also review compliance with legislation designed to protect the life and health of children. Prosecutorial measures will be taken if grounds are established during the inspection.
The Pervouralsk police department confirmed that the incident has been registered and is under management review. Authorities are currently working to identify all individuals involved – both the perpetrators and witnesses – reviewing CCTV footage and coordinating with schools to gather information.
