Google Rolls Out Bug Fix Update for Original Pixel Watch, Wear OS 6 Remains Exclusive

Google is currently deploying a software update for the original Pixel Watch, released in 2022. Although, this update focuses solely on bug fixes to improve the reliability of E911 Emergency dialing behavior. 9to5Google first reported the rollout.

Wear OS 5.1, Not Wear OS 6

The update, identified as BW1A.260305.003 (up from BW1A.251005.003.W1), remains based on Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15. Crucially, the original Pixel Watch will not receive the Wear OS 6 update or later versions, as it has surpassed its guaranteed three-year software update period. The device will continue to receive app updates through the Google Play Store. Wareable confirms this update schedule.

Rollout Details and Availability

As of Monday morning, March 16, 2026, the OTA update images were not yet available for manual installation on the factory images site. Google has also not yet released the March 2026 update for LTE versions of the Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4. 9to5Google reports on the staggered rollout.

Google states that the rollout will continue in phases over the coming weeks, dependent on carrier and device. Users can check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > System updates.

Wear OS 6 Availability

Wear OS 6 debuted with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series in July 2025. Wareable details the initial rollout with the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025. The Google Pixel Watch 4 received the update in October 2025, followed by the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 in December 2025. 9to5Google confirms the Pixel Watch 2 and 3 updates.

The OnePlus Watch 2 and OnePlus Watch 3 are slated to receive the Wear OS 6 update in 2026, with a more specific timeline to be announced. Wareable provides information on the OnePlus update schedule. Mobvoi’s TicWatch devices are not expected to receive the update.
