Gaten Matarazzo Stars in Hulu’s “Pizza Movie” Following ‘Stranger Things’

Gaten Matarazzo, best known for his role in Stranger Things, is leading a new college comedy titled Pizza Movie, which premiered at SXSW on March 13 and will stream on Hulu beginning April 3 . The film marks Matarazzo’s first project since the conclusion of the hit Netflix series.

A Drug-Fueled Comedy

Pizza Movie follows two college roommates, played by Matarazzo and Sean Giambrone (The Goldbergs), who embark on a bizarre journey to retrieve a pizza after taking an experimental drug with a deadly catch: it requires pizza to counteract its effects . What begins as a simple trip downstairs quickly spirals into a “blood-soaked, creature-filled adventure” .

Behind the Scenes

The film is directed by Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, known collectively as BriTANicK, former writers for Saturday Night Live . This directorial debut follows their writing work on the film Over Your Dead Body, also directed by a former SNL writer, Jorma Taccone .

Ensemble Cast

Pizza Movie features a supporting cast including Lulu Wilson, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Marcus Scribner, Sarah Sherman, and reportedly, Daniel Radcliffe .

Production Details

The film is produced by Jeremy Garelick and Whill Phelps for America High, and Billy Rodenberg for All Things Comedy . Matarazzo also serves as an executive producer . Hulu acquired the rights to the project in June 2025 .
