Downtown Harrisburg Revitalization Efforts Underway with Community Input
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Leaders in Harrisburg are actively seeking public opinion to guide the revitalization of the city’s downtown area. A collaborative effort between the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation (CREDC), the City of Harrisburg, and the Pennsylvania Downtown Center has launched the Downtown Harrisburg Perception Survey, aiming to align economic investments with the needs of residents and businesses.
Community Engagement is Key
Ryan Unger, President & CEO of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC, emphasized the importance of community involvement in the process. “This process starts with, continues with, and ends with the community,” Unger stated. “This is your city and engaging now is critical to remaking the downtown that you seek.”
Survey Details
The survey invites input from residents, visitors, workers, and business owners regarding their perceptions of the downtown area, specifically the area bounded by Front and 8th streets, and Mulberry and Forster streets. Organizers estimate the survey will grab approximately eight minutes to complete. The feedback gathered will be used to inform revitalization strategies.
County Commissioners Support Initiative
Dauphin County Commissioners Justin Douglas, Mike Pries, and George P. Hartwick, III, expressed their support for the initiative, stating, “Harrisburg is the heart of our region, and we look forward to hearing this community input so that we can align economic investments with the stated needs of our residents and workforce in conjunction with our critical partners at all levels of government and in the private sector.”
