Ngada Police have stopped investigating the death of a fourth grade elementary school student in Jerebuu District, Ngada, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) who died by hanging himself YBR (10). The police assess that there is no criminal element in the incident.
“The death of a person (YBR) was not the result of a criminal act, it was pure suicide. There was no bullying, etc.,” said Ngada Police Chief AKBP Andrey Valentino, Saturday (7/2/2026).

The police have also carried out a post-mortem. The results showed no signs of violence.
“There are no signs of death due to violence or anything else,” he said.
He explained that YBR’s motive for hanging himself to death could not be ascertained. Investigators did receive information from a number of witnesses that YBR came from a poor family and that his family was not intact.
The police also received witness information regarding YBR’s request to buy a notebook and pen, but his mother could not fulfill it.
“The real motive cannot be ascertained because the victim is no longer there,” said Andrey.
