Police search for suspects following Leighton Buzzard shooting and car chase

Police are searching for suspects who fled on foot after an eight-mile car chase that ended in a crash in Dunstable on Wednesday. Officers from Bedfordshire Police were called to Grebe Drive in Leighton Buzzard shortly before 15:30 BST following reports of a firearm being discharged, the BBC reported.

Specialist armed officers identified a vehicle believed to be linked to the scene, but the driver failed to stop for police. The pursuit concluded when the suspect vehicle collided with an unrelated car in Porz Avenue, Dunstable. According to Rayo, the occupants of the suspect vehicle abandoned the car and fled the area on foot, triggering an ongoing search.

One man involved in the collision with the suspect vehicle sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. Porz Avenue remains closed between Boscombe Way and the Lovatt Road roundabout while emergency services manage the site of the crash.

Greenleas School, located near the initial incident in Leighton Buzzard, entered a brief lockdown as a precaution on Wednesday afternoon. In a statement posted to its website, the school confirmed it will reopen on Thursday and expressed gratitude to students, staff, and parents for maintaining composure during the emergency.
