Polytron Enters Indonesian EV Market with G3 and G3+ Models

Jakarta – Indonesian electronics manufacturer Polytron has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its first electric cars, the G3 and G3+. The launch, held in Jakarta, marks a significant milestone for the Indonesian EV industry and has received strong government support. Polytron’s entry follows its success in the electric scooter market and a strategic collaboration with a foreign partner to develop EV platforms.

Polytron’s Sales Performance in Early 2026

In the first two months of 2026 (January-February), Polytron distributed 140 electric cars, surpassing the wholesale numbers of several Japanese brands marketing EVs in Indonesia. Specifically, 82 units were distributed in January and 58 in February. Mitsubishi Motors, for example, distributed zero units of its L100 and MiEV models during the same period, while only 16 units of the bZ4X were distributed.

Collaboration and Production

The Polytron electric car is the result of a collaboration with Skyworth K EV. In August 2024, Polytron and Skyworth signed a preliminary agreement for future partnerships. To meet growing demand, Polytron is relocating its electric scooter assembly plant from Kudus, Central Java, to a larger facility, expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025.

G3 and G3+ Variants: Key Differences

Polytron offers two variants of its electric car lineup:

  • G3 (Standard variant): Features 19-inch rims with 235/50 tires.
  • G3+ (Premium variant): Includes 20-inch rims with 245/45 tires and a panoramic sunroof.

Both models are available with two purchase schemes: battery subscription (rental) or full ownership with the battery included.

Technical Specifications and Performance

Both the G3 and G3+ share the same core platform and drivetrain:

  • Battery: 51.9 kWh LFP battery
  • Range: Up to 402 km (CLTC)
  • Power: 150 kW (201 hp)
  • Torque: 320 Nm
  • Acceleration: 0–100 km/h in 9.6 seconds
  • Drive System: Front-wheel drive with single-stage reducer transmission

The dimensions of both models are:

  • Length: 4,720 mm
  • Width: 1,908 mm
  • Height: 1,696 mm
  • Ground Clearance: 159 mm

Market Position and Competition

As of the first two months of 2026, Polytron holds a 0.1 percent market share in overall wholesale sales (140 units out of 147,631 units). Within the electric car segment specifically, Polytron’s market share is 0.62 percent (140 units out of 22,508 total electric car sales).
