Porsche Sonderwunsch Restores Carrera GT in Iconic Salzburg Livery

  • Porsche Sonderwunsch rebuilt Victor Gómez’s 2005 Carrera GT to documented zero-kilometre factory condition.
  • The car wears hand-painted Guards Red and white Salzburg Design with number 23.
  • The 5.7-litre NA V10 produces 450kW, with 1380kg kerb weight and 330km/h top speed.

Porsche’s Sonderwunsch division has once again demonstrated its expertise, delving into its history to restore one of the most revered modern supercars.

This time, the project centered around a 2005 Carrera GT, which was factory re-commissioned and finished in the iconic red-and-white Salzburg livery, famously associated with the Le Mans-winning 917 of 1970.

Owned by Puerto Rican collector Victor Gómez, the V10-powered supercar was completely disassembled and rebuilt to what Porsche describes as “zero-kilometre condition”. Effectively, this 20-year-old machine has been restored to a brand-new state, distinguished by a significantly more striking visual appearance.

A Le Mans legend, reimagined

The Salzburg design is more than just a wrap or cosmetic enhancement. Porsche designers meticulously reworked the historic color scheme to complement the Carrera GT’s proportions, which differ significantly from those of the long-tail 917 racer. The result is a hand-painted Guards Red and white finish, complete with the iconic number 23, all protected by a clear film.
