Cristiano Ronaldo Portuguese Federation Mediation Led By Pedro Proença

The Portuguese Football Federation plans to organize a new meeting between Cristiano Ronaldo and Jorge Jesus in the coming days to smooth over ongoing tensions. Federation president Pedro Proença aims to arrange the talks following the international break and Portugal’s match against Norway, as part of an effort to secure a stable environment for the national team. According to information relayed by RMC Sport from Marca and the Correio da Manhã, Pedro Proença would like to organize a new meeting between the two men in the coming days, specifically prompting a fresh exchange next week after the end of the international break and the encounter against Norway.

Jorge Jesus is reportedly available and not opposed to the initiative. However, the Federation does not plan an immediate return for the 41-year-old forward to the national squad, choosing instead to target a medium-term reintegration to protect group stability.

Proença Fails to Resolve Conflict Between Player and Coach

Pedro Proença previously attempted to defuse friction between the player and the coach during a meeting in Copenhagen ahead of a Nations League match against Denmark. While that intervention temporarily quieted the situation, it failed to resolve the underlying conflict permanently. Tensions resurfaced after Jorge Jesus made press conference comments explicitly reasserting his authority.

On the pitch, the national team has maintained strong form during the turbulent period. Under Jorge Jesus, Portugal secured a 4-2 victory against Denmark, marking three wins in three matches since the manager’s appointment.

Federation Denies Retirement And Suspension Rumors

Addressing widespread speculation surrounding the player’s future, Ricardo Quaresma, official spokesperson for the Portuguese Football Federation, spoke to the Saudi newspaper Al-Maydan. Quaresma denied rumors of an international retirement, stating that Cristiano Ronaldo has not communicated any intention to stop playing for the national team and can return normally at any time.

The Federation also dismissed claims that Ronaldo faces a six-month suspension following his recent departure from the squad’s training camp. Quaresma clarified that if Jorge Jesus selects him, the forward holds the right to join the national team roster without disciplinary restriction. By making this declaration, the Portuguese Federation leaves the ball in the court of coach Jesus and star Cristiano Ronaldo to end the crisis and restore order before upcoming fixtures.

Federation Seeks Positive End to Leading Goalscorer's Career

The Federation’s immediate goal remains restoring cordial relations between the player and the manager. Officials want to ensure that the forward, who is Portugal’s all-time leading goalscorer with 146 goals and most-capped player with 234 appearances, finishes his international career under positive conditions.

The upcoming meeting scheduled for next week will determine whether the player and manager can reach an agreement before future international fixtures.
