Prince William is remembering Princess Diana on Mother’s Day in the U.K., sharing a previously unseen photograph honoring his late mother.

The Prince of Wales posted a childhood photo Sunday showing him as a toddler with Diana while walking through a field of flowers at Highgrove in 1984. The image, taken when William was approximately two years old, comes from his private collection.

“Remembering my mother, today and every day,” William wrote in the caption on Instagram. “Thinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother’s Day. W.”

The tribute coincides with the U.K.’s Mothering Sunday, a day dedicated to honoring mothers and maternal figures.

Diana died in 1997 following a car crash in Paris. Prince William was 15 years old at the time. She would have turned 65 on July 1, 2026 People.

Other members of the royal family similarly marked the day online. King Charles and Queen Camilla shared a post wishing mothers everywhere a peaceful Mothering Sunday, including a photograph of the late Queen Elizabeth II and another image of Camilla with her mother, Rosalind Shand. BBC News.

Princess Kate – who shares Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with William – did not make a public post on the couple’s joint social media account this year. Kate has previously spoken about the importance of motherhood, particularly in light of her recent health challenges while undergoing cancer treatment. USA Today.

For Prince William, Sunday’s message was a simple tribute to the woman who profoundly influenced his life. Sky News.
