Privateers Tennis Teams Aim to Continue Undefeated Starts Against Alcorn State
NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans (UNO) men’s and women’s tennis teams are set to continue their seasons on Thursday, February 19, 2026, with a matchup against Alcorn State University. The matches will take place at 12:00 PM CT.
The UNO men’s team currently holds a 5-0 record for the 2026 season, while the women’s team is 4-0. Both teams are looking to maintain their perfect records as they face the Braves.
Women’s Tennis: Dominance in Doubles and Singles
The women’s team recently secured a 4-1 victory over Jackson State University. A key component of their success has been their performance in doubles play, winning the doubles point in all four matches this season. Doubles teams have a combined record of 10-2.
Kateryna Kalistratova and Nouray Khaled have been particularly strong in doubles, achieving a 2-0 record at flight one and a 2-0 record at flight two.
In singles competition, the Privateers have a combined record of 18-4. Kalistratova and Fleur Sprengers have been leading the way with a combined eight wins in the top two flights, and Khaled remains undefeated in her three completed matches at flight three.
Men’s Tennis: Strong Singles Play Fuels Success
The men’s team has been nearly flawless in singles play, boasting a combined record of 26-2 in singles matches across their five bouts. Four players – Gonzalo Cotter, Beltran Fernandez, Carlos Melgosa, and Jacob Rouleau-Mailly – remain undefeated.
Despite losing the doubles point in their last match, the Privateers rallied with strong performances in singles. Rouleau-Mailly was up a set and Fernandez was up a service break in the third set against Jackson State when their matches were unfinished.
