Ingolstadt Hosts Successful International Swim Cup Bavaria with Record-Breaking Performances
The Ingolstadt sports pool recently played host to a strong swimming competition, the PSV Eichstätt International Swim Cup Bavaria, attracting 65 clubs from southern Germany, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Romania. The event has solidified its position as one of the three best competitions on the 50-meter track in Germany.
Four Event Records Fall at the Competition
This year’s competition saw a total of four event records set, with athletes from 1. FCN Swimming and SG Stadtwerke Munich leading the charge. Luisa Rumler impressed in the 800-meter freestyle, finishing with a time of 8:53.63 minutes, while Mexican national swimmer Paulo Strehlke Delgardo shone in the 1500-meter freestyle, completing the race in 15:36.88 minutes. These two clubs also dominated the medal table, with SSG 81 Erlangen securing third place.
Armbruster Shines with Multiple Records
Luca Nik Armbruster of SG Neukölln Berlin delivered a standout performance, winning the 100-meter butterfly with a significant lead and setting new event records in both the 100-meter butterfly (53.33 seconds) and the 50-meter butterfly (23.59 seconds).
Hungarian Swimmers Dominate Women’s Short Distances
The women’s short distances were dominated by swimmers from the University of Györ Swimming Club in Hungary. Monika Olle and Brigitta Vass secured victories in the 100-meter breaststroke, 100-meter butterfly, and 100-meter backstroke, with Vass also becoming a new event record holder.
PSV Eichstätt Swimmers Achieve Personal Bests and Championship Qualifications
Seven swimmers from the organizing club, Police SV Eichstätt, qualified for the International Swim Cup, achieving qualifying times. Benjamin Sturm earned a bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke in his age group, and all PSV athletes achieved new personal best times across their 39 starts. Amelie Swoboda qualified for the Bavarian Championships in Würzburg in July with a time of 39.77 seconds in the 50-meter breaststroke.
SC Delphin Ingolstadt Qualifies for German Youth Championships
Athletes from SC Delphin Ingolstadt used the competition as a qualifying event for the German Youth Championships in Berlin. Mia and Pia Spethmann qualified in the 100, 200, and 400-meter freestyle, while Vincent Strittmatter qualified in the 200-meter butterfly, also winning the gold medal in the youth classification. Amelie Rieß also met the qualifying standard in the 50-meter backstroke.
Junior Gold Medals and Final Qualifications
Jakob Wilfling triumphed in the 200-meter breaststroke, and Lara Rieß won the 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter backstroke, and 200-meter individual medley in the junior competition. Amelie Rieß, Vincent Strittmatter, Leonie Mathe, Alexander Reiswich, and Valentin König also qualified for the final races over the 100-meter distances, achieving placements ranging from second place for König in the 100-meter backstroke to eighth place.
