Queen Elizabeth Hospital Doctor Receives Award for Outstanding Patient and Staff Care

A senior doctor at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King’s Lynn has been recognized for her dedication to both patient care and the well-being of her colleagues. Dr. Mahilini Vipulan, a Senior Clinical Fellow, was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Living Our Values Award on Friday, February 20, 2026, in a surprise ceremony.

Recognizing a Commitment to QEH Values

The award, presented by QEH Director of People John Syson and colleagues, acknowledges Dr. Vipulan’s embodiment of the hospital’s core values: Kindness, Wellness and Fairness. The nomination, submitted by a colleague, highlighted her consistent support and care for both patients and staff.

According to the award nomination, Dr. Vipulan “is always kind to staff” and “ensures wellness of staff is taken care of.” Colleagues praised her communication skills with patients, noting her ability to address concerns and provide reassurance. She was also recognized for her commitment to the learning and development of junior doctors, offering resources and guidance.

“She is a role model in terms of the function she does, and we are incredibly lucky to have her as our registrar,” the nomination stated.

Dr. Vipulan’s Dedication to Medicine

Dr. Vipulan expressed her gratitude for the recognition, stating, “Receiving this recognition is a great honour. This award inspires me to continue striving for excellence. I like to work, and I enjoy serving my patients.”

She shared that she previously worked as an acting consultant in Sri Lanka, where her husband and two children currently reside, and aspires to become a permanent consultant. She emphasized the importance of continuous learning and training for junior doctors.

The monthly Outstanding Contribution to Living Our Values Award is part of The QEH’s reward and recognition program, funded by The QEHKL Charity.
