Teplinsky highlights that despite guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT), patients continue to experience heart failure events. The HALT-HF trial demonstrated that vericiguat, when added to GDMT, significantly reduced the risk of heart failure hospitalization and cardiovascular death.
She emphasizes the importance of identifying patients who may benefit from vericiguat, particularly those with persistently elevated natriuretic peptides despite being on GDMT.
