Your moral obligation after the resignation of Rumen Radev was to resign with him. The constitution does not mean for the president to resign to make a party, so you should have resigned too.

This was stated by MECH leader Radostin Vasilev during the meeting of his parliamentary group in the presidency. He repeatedly insulted President Iliana Yotova, and after presenting his position, he did not even want to hear what she had to answer him. Thus, MECH left the consultation room and did not stay for a closed meeting with the head of state.

At 11:30 a.m., the meeting of President Iliana Yotova with MECH representatives began. The leader of MECH Radostin Vasilev, the head of PG Kiril Veselinski, Hristo Rastashki and Krasimir Manov came to “Dondukov” 2.

“As you know, these consultations were dictated by the changes in the Constitution. You did not participate in them and you always expressed your categorical opinion about their bankruptcy, for which I thank you,” the president said at the beginning of the meeting.

“For me, these meetings are not formal, all the conversations so far have shown the most pressing problems that the next acting prime minister must solve. This will largely determine my choice among the five, whether they agree,” Yotova was categorical.

The most important thing remains the holding of fair elections. The state cannot stop until the elections, therefore it is very important to clarify what needs to be done in the parliament in order to solve the urgent problems facing the country and the citizens, she reminded again.

“It is clear to everyone what situation we are in because of these changes in the Constitution, the choice is not great, but I still hope that we will show reason on the part of all institutions in order to provide citizens with maximum security in every respect and for the country. Many problems need to be solved, even from politicians there are admissions that price control is a complete failure and people feel it hard in their pockets. We do not want to fall into a situation where we demotivate people to vote,” Yotova also said.

“I believe that in the sincerity of the new political class, a new management model must be built. We are surrounded by hypocrisy, political and state, by a total breakdown of institutions, which leads to serious criminal incidents, insulting moral values and ruining the idea of the family. Given my absolute sincerity, I approach the meeting with you with great skepticism. I have great respect for you and the presidential institution, but I must express my Mrs. Yotova, I am an advocate of the fact that there was no real lustration in our country. Therefore, 36 years after the changes, we are forced to have persons with a heavy nomenclature and DS past. We must constantly live with the idea that this model will be cleared.

“You yourself are a member of the BSP. Your moral obligation after the resignation of Rumen Radev was to resign with him. The Constitution does not provide for the president to resign in order to form a party, so you also had to resign. In society, it seems that he used the institution to create a party, and you are using it for your future presidential campaign. This leads to skepticism that you are capable of running a real, impartial campaign,” he added.

“I can’t hide that your photos with Lyuben Gotsev from the early 90s and with other DS personalities cause me great concern. I can’t hide my concern that you are close to people who were vice-presidents of “Multigroup”, that you held the post of BSP spokesperson in 1997, when the Bulgarians were on hunger strike, that a few days ago you were photographed with Kiril Dobrev, who for me is a liquidator of the BSP. I can’t say that in the context of this, rumors about sects, paramilitary organizations, pedophile networks in the Balkans, your presence at meetings of Templars wearing some sheets and crosses, I don’t consider it an act that contributes to the stability of the state and our Orthodoxy.

Because of what he listed, MECH did not want to hold a dialogue with President Yotova.

“People like you and Vasil Terziev should have been polished by the opportunity to hold such positions,” Vasilev added.

“From MECH, we will no longer participate in consultations, both because of their thoughtlessness and because of your deliberate procrastination, probably with the aim of ex-president Rumen Radev making a party and organizing himself,” the MECH leader also said. And he added that the only suitable candidate for acting prime minister is Andrey Gyurov.

“Only he can have some emancipation from the Peevski-Borisov model,” he added.

“I don’t want you to feel offended, today we should have been preparing for presidential and parliamentary elections 2 in 1, and not preparing for a campaign for the post of president and looking for the confirmation of one candidacy from the unsuccessful parties in the parliament, among 5 that are absolutely compromised. I hope you will have reason and justify my doubts and skepticism towards you personally,” said Radostin Vassilev.

After that, he and his MECH colleagues got up and left, not wanting to listen to what President Yotova had to say.

“Obviously, they came to say their words about their election campaign. At no time and in no way do I deny my biography, it is visible and transparent to all Bulgarian citizens who have elected me several times as an MP, MEP and vice-president. According to the Constitution, after the president has resigned, the vice-president takes over his powers”, Yotova said after the MECH left the consultation hall.

Last week Yotova met with the parliamentary groups of GERB, PP-DB, DPS-New Beginning, BSP and ITN. GERB proposed to the president that he likes one of the remaining 239 deputies (without the Speaker of the Parliament Raya Nazaryan), who would become the Speaker of the National Assembly and thus be able to become acting Prime Minister as well. However, Yotova tactfully refused this offer. ITN and PP-DB defined it as “absurd”. Earlier today, the head of state met with the APS, who categorically stated that the only suitable candidate for prime minister is the deputy governor of the BNB, Andrey Gyurov. In addition to Gyurov, four more of the so-called home book: deputy ombudsman Maria Filipova, head of the Audit Chamber Dimitar Glavchev and his deputies Margarita Nikolova and Silvia Kudreva.

APS representatives called on President Yotova to veto the changes to the Electoral Code, which were limited to 20 sections in non-EU countries. This was also requested earlier by PP-DB.

The future official cabinet should submit a regular budget for 2026 to the parliament, and the deputies should accept it. This is what President Iliyana Yotova asked of the parties even before she named the caretaker prime minister.

She put the question to the parliamentary forces with whom she consults, before settling on the name of the prime minister. And he asked them whether to accept the regular budget draft for 2026 already submitted by the “Zhelyazkov” cabinet, or whether the caretaker government should make a new one.

Today at 1:00 p.m. is the last meeting of President Yotova. She will be with the MPs from Velichie.
