Red Lobster Brings Back ‘Endless Shrimp’ Following Bankruptcy Losses

Red Lobster is bringing back its popular “Endless Shrimp” promotion for a limited time, according to reports by Bloomberg and statements from the company. The all-you-can-eat seafood deal returns roughly 18 months after the Orlando-based chain navigated Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and changed its leadership.

Financial Fallout and the Road to Chapter 11

The seafood restaurant chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May 2024, according to Fox Business. The filing followed mounting financial losses, including fallout from the $20 “Endless Shrimp” promotion that management expanded into a permanent menu item in 2023.

While the deal successfully drove customer traffic, overwhelming demand severely strained supply costs. According to Reuters reports cited by Fox Business, the promotion accounted for roughly $11 million of the company’s $76 million net loss in 2023. For approximately two decades prior to that expansion, the promotion had operated successfully as a limited-time offering.

Leadership Changes and Turnaround Strategy

Damola Adamolekun, the former P.F. Chang’s chief, took over as Red Lobster CEO in August 2024 to lead the brand’s post-bankruptcy recovery, according to Bloomberg. When Adamolekun initially assumed leadership, he ruled out bringing back the endless shrimp deal, telling Today that he declined to do so “because I know how to do math.”

However, sustained customer demand prompted a shift in strategy. In a statement reported by Fox Business, Adamolekun explained the pivot: “Endless Shrimp has been a part of Red Lobster’s legacy for 20 years and our guests have never stopped asking for it. We’re excited to bring it back, for a limited time, in a way that works for our business today and honors what made it special from the beginning.”

Since emerging from bankruptcy, CEO Damola Adamolekun’s turnaround strategy has focused on modernizing the brand and increasing store traffic. According to Bloomberg, these operational changes include:

  • Trimming the overall menu by approximately 20%
  • Introducing new items such as lobster bisque and seafood boils
  • Rolling out a revamped in-restaurant guest experience
  • Reassessing the restaurant footprint after closing roughly 130 locations during bankruptcy

Pricing and Menu Varieties for the Return

The revived promotion starts at select locations with prices varying by market, according to Fox Business and USA Today. While one location informed Fox Business that the new offering is priced at $24.99 per person—up from the $20 price tag in 2024—other restaurants have priced the deal at $29.99, according to USA Today.

Diners selecting the promotion can choose from five different shrimp varieties paired with a choice of side. The menu lineup includes:

  • Marry Me Shrimp: A new internet-inspired flavor featuring shrimp in a tomato cream sauce with a garlic and herb crumble topping
  • Shrimp Linguini Alfredo: Shrimp served in Alfredo sauce over linguini
  • Walt’s Favorite Shrimp: Hand-breaded and lightly fried butterflied shrimp served with cocktail sauce
  • Garlic Shrimp Scampi: Shrimp sautéed in a garlic lemon butter sauce
  • Parrot Isle Coconut Shrimp: Hand-breaded jumbo coconut shrimp served with piña colada sauce

A Red Lobster spokesperson emphasized to Fox Business that the company monitors guest feedback closely, noting that thousands of social media mentions since the promotion’s previous departure influenced the decision to reintroduce it under controlled, limited-time parameters.
