Reidon Forde Swim-A-Thon Honors Legacy of Young Athlete Lost to Gun Violence
The Yawkey Club of Roxbury hosted the inaugural Reidon Forde Swim-A-Thon from February 3rd to February 5th, dedicated to supporting swimmers attending the 2026 Boys and Girls Club National Swim Meet in St. Petersburg, Florida, from April 10th to April 12th. The event serves as a tribute to Reidon Forde, a former member of the Barracudas Swim Team and a graduate of Bedford High School, who tragically died in 2025 due to gun violence.

Reidon Forde was remembered as a positive and impactful alumnus of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. He excelled in swimming, basketball, and football, demonstrating leadership, resilience, and a joyful spirit. Swim-A-Thon Details and Fundraising Goals
During the Swim-A-Thon, participants swam as many lengths (25 yards) or laps (50 yards) as possible within a one-hour window. The event sought to raise funds to enable the team’s participation in the National Swim Competition. As of a recent update, the event had raised $3,500 towards a $10,000 goal, representing 35% of the total needed.
