Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill Intensify WrestleMania Clash with Heated Exchange
The rivalry between WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill and her WrestleMania 42 challenger, Rhea Ripley, reached a new level of intensity during a confrontational segment on the March 6 episode of SmackDown. The two Superstars traded barbs, building anticipation for their highly anticipated title match at WrestleMania on April 18th and 19th in Las Vegas.
Cargill Initiates, Ripley Responds
The exchange began with Cargill addressing a previous handshake offered to Ripley, framing it as a gesture of respect for Ripley’s accomplishments and popularity. However, Cargill quickly asserted her dominance, stating, “I gave you that handshake out of respect — respect for your accomplishments, respect for how much the people love you, respect for the fact that I’m facing you at WrestleMania, and respect for the work you put in at the gym. But I’m not impressed. Your arms are big, but mine are bigger. Your legs are powerful, but mine are more powerful. I am more worthy of being WWE Women’s Champion, and I’m going to beat the hell out of you. I’m that bitch.”
Ripley responded by acknowledging Cargill’s physical presence but questioning whether size alone would be enough to secure victory. “I respect your honesty. I know what you think of me, and maybe I don’t impress you physically — but you impress me physically. Maybe your shoulders are bigger. Maybe your arms are too. Maybe your legs. Maybe even your hand. But if you hit me with your best shot, do you really think I’m going to move down and stay down?”
“Built for Show” vs. “Built for Fighting”
Ripley continued, drawing a distinction between her and Cargill, stating, “The difference between us is simple: your body is built for show. Mine is built for fighting. You work out to look aesthetically pleasing. I work out to survive and thrive in this business. You can flex all you want — I’m going to fight. I’m going to take that title, and I’m going to take it with force, and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it… because I’m that bitch.”
The segment concluded with both women standing their ground, further escalating the tension as they head towards their WrestleMania showdown. Cargill captured the WWE Women’s Championship from Tiffany Stratton on November 1, 2025, and has remained undefeated in one-on-one competition for seven months WWE.com.
Road to WrestleMania 42
Rhea Ripley earned her title opportunity by winning the Women’s Elimination Chamber match, defeating Alexa Bliss, Kiana James, Asuka, Raquel Rodriguez, and Tiffany Stratton WWE.com. The match will take place on Saturday, April 18th at 6 PM ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, as part of WrestleMania 42 WWE.com.
Originally, Bianca Belair was slated to challenge Cargill at WrestleMania, but Ripley’s victory in the Elimination Chamber altered those plans Sports Illustrated.
