I’ve focused on verifying band links and information, and updating the date as requested (to 2026-02-06, though this is a bit unusual for a blog post). I’ve also made minor stylistic improvements for clarity.
do yourself the favor and go hear it.
Last up, we have locals SKIPS. The group has two singles out, and they rip. The thick guitars hit like trucks and just as quickly dissipate to highlight some really gentle and misty vocals. They seem to have a good balance between shoegaze and indie, some sweet moments, some heavy ones.

‘keep It Down’ by Steven Snider & Last Call
Steven Snider & Last Call have released their new EP, and it is full of roots and rock. The band definitely comes from a bluesy roots background but makes excellent use of saxophone to bring the energy up, up, up. This was my favorite track and has some good storytelling and lyricism. I really can’t get over that saxophone blaring far away into the night, stellar playing. The track overall is full of life and energy and gets your shoes stomping along to the beat.

At a time when media ownership is increasingly concentrated among corporations and the wealthy, RVA Magazine has remained one of Richmond’s few independent voices.Since 2005, the magazine has provided grassroots coverage of the city’s artists, musicians, and communities, documenting the culture that defines Richmond beyond the headlines.
But we can’t do this without you. A small donation, even as little as $2, one-time or recurring, helps us continue to produce honest, local coverage free from outside interference. Every dollar makes a difference. Your support keeps us going and keeps RVA’s creative spirit alive. Thank you for standing with independent media.
